Peter Paul Rubens
Peter Paul Rubens (1577–1640) was the greatest Flemish Baroque painter, whose dynamic, sensual canvases overflow with energy, flesh and colour. A diplomat and scholar, he ran a vast workshop that supplied all of Europe's courts.
Rubens defined the exuberant Baroque style and influenced painters from Watteau to Delacroix and Renoir.
