Images and licences
We aim to show art clearly while identifying the source, image author, licence, and reuse restrictions wherever they are known.

Priority goes to open museum collections, Wikimedia Commons, and sources with a clear status such as public domain, CC0, or a stated Creative Commons licence. Credits and source links are retained near the image or in the page details.

An artwork and the photograph of it may carry separate rights. When no reliable permission or open reproduction is available, Artatlas uses a neutral placeholder and directs readers to an official source rather than publishing a doubtful copy.

Availability on another website does not by itself grant reuse rights. Artatlas does not sell reproductions; images support identification, commentary, and navigation to institutions, without cancelling the rights of artists or photographers.

Rights holders and readers can report an incorrect credit, licence, or source to [email protected]. Include the page URL and supporting information; the image will be reviewed and, where appropriate, corrected, replaced, or removed.
