Official museum, archive, and foundation object records come first, followed by scholarly catalogues and trusted institutional publications. Wikimedia Commons, Wikidata, and Wikipedia can help locate information but do not replace primary verification.

Names, dates, medium, and location are checked separately. Approximate dates, disputed attributions, and competing accounts are labelled with wording such as ‘circa’, ‘attributed to’, or ‘according to one account’.

News items carry an event date and a link to the original source. Opening hours, exhibitions, and museum status can change; readers should confirm practical details on the institution’s official website.

Automated tools may assist with structure, repetition checks, and translation, but are not treated as factual sources. Corrections can be sent to [email protected]; verified errors are fixed and the update date is changed.
