Joan Miró
Joan Miró (1893–1983) was a Catalan painter and one of the great Surrealists, who built a joyful private language of biomorphic shapes, stars and bright primary colour. His playful, dreamlike worlds feel both childlike and profound.
Miró's free, sign-like imagery influenced Abstract Expressionism and made him one of the most beloved modern artists.
