From the artist's life
He is said to have prayed before working and wept while painting the Crucifixion. In 1982 John Paul II beatified him, and in 1984 proclaimed him patron of artists.

Fra Angelico
Fra Angelico (c. 1395–1455) was a Dominican friar and early Renaissance painter of luminous, devout altarpieces and frescoes. His serene Annunciation glows with gold, light and quiet faith.
Combining medieval devotion with Renaissance space and light, Fra Angelico was beatified by the Catholic Church centuries later.
